Fall is here, which means that the gardening season is coming to a close. Come to the Student Farm’s virtual lunchtime panel where you can learn all about putting your garden to bed for the winter! Whether you are a seasoned gardener or recently picked up gardening as a hobby, you are welcome at this event where the panel will discuss methods for ensuring that your garden is ready for planting in the spring

Our panelists are Kathy Demchak, Ruth Mendum, and Woody Wilson. Kathy is a Senior Extension Associate in the Department of Plant Science. She conducts applied research to aid berry growers in PA. Ruth is the College of Agriculture’s Associate Director for Gender Initiatives and is an experienced home gardener. She enjoys growing unusual vegetable varieties, planting perennials, and keeping plenty of flowers for pollinators. Woody is a Penn State College of Agriculture alum. He is the founder of Wilson Home Farms, which offers a variety of services to set up and maintain a home garden. We are excited about the diverse expertise that our panelists bring to the table, and attendees should be in for an enjoyable and informative experience!

This workshop is being planned by Sustainable Food Systems Program AmeriCorps member Katherine Lang.
