Student Farm Club’s next meeting will be a virtual alumni panel to discuss food and agriculture opportunities within the service corps, and all are invited to attend! The event will be held via Zoom and will take place on Thursday, March 4 from 6-7 p.m. EST.
The “Strengthening the Corps: Advancing food system sustainability through Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and FoodCorps” panel will be a high-energy, engaging event that provides participants with first-hand insight into the service corps. Volunteers from Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and FoodCorps will share information about their service experiences and answer questions that participants have. The volunteers are all Penn State alumni who were involved with the Student Farm during their time here!
The panelists will discuss the strengths and skills that prepared them for their terms of service, as well as the experiences and abilities that they gained as a result of their work. The discussion will primarily focus on the agricultural sector and how the panelists’ work addressed problems within the food system. People who are interested in the work being done to achieve a sustainable agricultural system or are interested in becoming volunteers will benefit from attending this event.
