NOTE: REGISTRATION FOR THE WORM WORKSHOP IS NOW CLOSED
You’ve seen worms wiggling around outside, but did you know that they could live inside with you, too? Vermicomposting is the method of using worms to convert food and other organic waste into fertilizer, and it can be done on such a small scale that you can keep it in your home.
Vermicomposting is a great way to reduce household food waste and produce a natural, inexpensive fertilizer. It speeds up the composting process and requires less maintenance than traditional composting methods.
Join us on Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m. on the Student Farm to learn how to care for worms and vermicompost on your own. Participants will build a small two-layer vermicomposting bin suitable for dorms and small spaces to take home, along with worms to get started. All are welcome to attend… including kids!
The cost of participation is $10, which can be paid via cash or check. Any questions can be directed to Grace McVay at: gfm6@psu.edu.
