Gardeners of all ages, experience levels and garden sizes are invited to learn new gardening skills and get their hands dirty at the Dr. Keiko Miwa Ross Student Farm’s upcoming Garden Grow-How! Whether you are a first-time gardener or an experienced grower with seeds and advice to share, the Garden Grow-How will offer many activities for you to enjoy. The event will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 27 at Heritage Hall, inside the HUB-Robeson Center at University Park.

A few of the activity stations include a how-to for garden design, growing your own sprouts using a 3D printed lid, and composting with and without worms. The Dr. Keiko Miwa Ross Student Farm is collaborating with Master Gardeners, PSU Community Garden, Student Farm Club and other partners to host the Grow-How, so there is sure to be a diversity of fun.

Anyone interested in gardening is welcome, including those on campus and from the wider community. There will also be several stations with activities and crafts geared especially toward children and families. Paid parking is available to visitors in the HUB parking deck.

Marta Plumhoff, food systems coordinator for the Sustainable Food Systems Program, is leading students and partners to organize the event.

We’re excited to share our love for growing with our campus and community.

“Growing is a really transformative and impactful action – for your gardens, bodies, minds, and souls! – and we’re excited to share our passion for it with our community again this year. Whether you’re looking to extend your season, finally get a houseplant to stay alive in your dorm, or just learn new ways to explore your relationship with nature, there’s something for you here,” Plumhoff said.

There will also be a garden supplies prize drawing for attendees! Prizes include gardening books and tools, houseplants, and a season extension kit, which have been generously donated by New Society Publishers, Howland Tools, and the Dr. Keiko Miwa Ross Student Farm.
