We’ve partnered with Penn State Sustainability this month, and are excited to announce an exciting collaboration with Tawnya Brant, an entrepreneur, author, and Top Chef Canada competitor, who is a leading voice in the Indigenous food sovereignty movement. From November 12-15, Tawnya will partner with the university for a series of events that bring her culinary expertise and commitment to Indigenous foodways to campus and the community.

Tawnya is a Kanyen’kehá:ka (Mohawk) woman who has made a name for herself through her restaurant, writing and as a champion for the revitalization of traditional Indigenous foods. Her work emphasizes sustainability, community empowerment, and the healing power of food.

Tawnya will give her talk on Tuesday, November 12, from 4-5:30 p.m. in 132 Flex Theater, HUB-Robeson Center. The talk will also be available online for those who are not in the State College area. Register here to attend Tawnya Brant’s talk via Zoom. This event will provide a chance to learn firsthand from Tawnya about her journey, her mission, and her vision for Indigenous food sovereignty.
